It’s with great sadness to announce the passing of Daniel Robert Dwyer, 38, a beloved son, brother, friend, and a proud veteran of the Marines, 2004-2009. Dan passed away suddenly on November 14th, 2024 as a result of Focal Atherosclerotic Coronary Heart Disease, (CAD). Dan was born on August 22, 1986, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, to Dennis R. and Yvonne A. Dwyer. Dan attended Caesar Rodney High School and the University of Delaware, before enlisting in the Marines. Dan joined the Marines in 2004 and was meritoriously promoted all the way to Sergeant. He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation with Combat Valor “V”, Combat Action Ribbon, Purple Heart, Certificates of Commendation, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal, and Meritorious Mast. Dan served in the military for five years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant until being honorably discharged. Although Dan struggled from combat related injuries. It didn’t stop his love for life. Daniel enjoyed his love of fishing, skateboarding and drawing. He shared his days with his beloved black lab and service dog, Buddy, who brought him joy and unwavering loyalty. More importantly during his time in the Marine Corps, Dan was courageous, loyal, and honorable. A Marine who set the example for others to emulate. Throughout his life Dan was especially close with his mom and younger brother, Dennis. After the military, Dan would spend his time in North Carolina with his mom and in California with his brother. Family was everything to him. He will be greatly missed. Dan is survived by his mother, Yvonne Dwyer, and younger brother, Dennis R. Dwyer, USMC 2006-2012. His father, Dennis R. Dwyer, Sr, died on November 4, 1992, serving as a marine. At this time, January 14, 2025, a date has not been set for the memorial service. Please do not send flowers.
